THE NEED
The growing problem of environmental pollution and utilization of plastics and rubber waste in industrial and consumer applications, combined with ever increasing demand of fuel and energy, has led to an increased demand for solution where the waste of plastic and rubber can be converted into productive energy as well as a reusable entity. One of the fastest growing types of industries is recycling through pyrolysis, as it not only saves the environment but also provides alternative source of energy without affecting the natural resources. It also proposes to produce fuel oil from waste Rubber or plastics which is a key industrial fuel.
MANUFACTURING PROCESS
Pyrolysis is a process to treat the rubber & industrial plastic waste to effect the decomposition of organic compounds under oxygen-free atmosphere to produce gas, oil and other usable products.
- The Waste rubber or plastic is charged into the Reactor Vessel and heated under controlled conditions of temperature and absence of oxygen.
- As a result, oil in gaseous form is produced along with other gases. These vaporized gases are passed through Heat Exchangers, wherein the oil gas is condensed into liquid form. The heat exchangers use water as the condensing medium and this water is re-circulated back from the cooling tower to the condenser.
- During the process, Carbon Black is generated.
- Non condensable gas is again re-used to maintain the temperature of the reactor.
RECOVERY
The average break up of recovery for rubber tyres is as below:
45 - 50% Oil | The hydrocarbons recovered, are converted in to Fuel oil, which can be a substitute for Light Diesel Oil or Furnace Oil in industrial applications. |
30 - 35% Carbon Black | Carbon Black can be used to manufacture further value-added products that have higher market value and demand. |
10 - 15% Steel | Steel extracted fetches good value in the market. |
